TFC: The Fertile Crescent

A base-building RTS where your food surplus is your economy, your tech tree, and what civilization stands on.

Released 13 June 2024. Very Positive on Steam. Windows, Mac and Linux. Developed by Wield Interactive, published by MicroProse. Also on GOG, and on Steam in a bundle with TFC2.

How it plays

You settle a village on fertile land, then try to keep your people and your food supply alive at the same time. Surplus food grows your population and earns Knowledge Points, which you spend on Village Improvements that can swing a match your way.

Everyone starts with a village center, on equal footing, with several real openings from the first minute. Later you align with one of the Bronze Age civilizations with different strengths. You can win by conquest, by finishing a Wonder, or by starving the other side out.

Where it came from

TFC was our first game, and mostly a two-man project. It went into Early Access in 2022 and reached 1.0 on 13 June 2024, with support from the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland's Games Grant. MicroProse came on board along the way, and that led to TFC2.
